Is wine good for you...or not?

That question
continues to be
one of the wine world's
most torrid hot buttons.

After countless studies
citing research
from hundreds of experts,
the conclusion is...

inconclusive.

No matter
where you stand
on the issue,
you can find
evidence that supports
your stance.

And that brings us to...

Dry January,
the practice of
abstaining from alcohol
during the first month
of the new year.

Dry January
got its start in the UK.

No surprise,
since the Brits tend to
get "off their face"
with some frequency.

According to one study,
the Brits collectively down
15,000 pints of beer
and 3,200 bottles of wine
every minute of every day.

Wowza!

Thus, Dry January starts in England,
becomes a global detox phenomenon
and leads to...
that's right...
more studies.

Some of those studies say
Dry January can lead to
beneficial results such as
improved general health,
better sleep,
a bolstered immune system
and potential weight loss

Others question whether
a new year's detox really works,
at least in the long term.

A number of experts say,
"it all depends"...
upon your age, weight,
eating habits
and the amount you were drinking
before January.

In other words...

Dr. James Ferguson,
a noted British liver specialist, says

"I don't think
taking one month a year
off alcohol
makes any measureable difference
on your health.
It's more important
to cut back generally."

My interpretation:

Moderation,
in all things
at all times,
is a healthy strategy.

Hey, it's working for Billy Gibbons.

He just turned 70
and he's still rockin'.

in Dry January,
