Amongst the vast variety of unique wine marketing gimmicks out there,

this one stands out. 

The Wines of Germany trade group has declared March 13, 1435,

the “official” birthday of Riesling. 

Thus, Riesling is “officially” turning 585.

We don’t have a 500-plus year old riesling to recommend…

wouldn’t THAT be something? 

We do have a winning wine from a more recent vintage.

Think about your store’s “wall of wine”. 

Not many rieslings, correct? 

And most of those rieslings, unfortunately, are sickly sweet. 

Poet’s Leap is not. 

I’m not a big fan of wine terms but I’m going to use one here. 

Poet’s Leap is “off dry” to which you’re probably saying, “huh?” 

Off dry means a wine tastes slightly sweet…slightly, not overly. 

That’s an apt description of Poet’s Leap. 

Yes, it has a small amount of residual sugar but it remains floral, fruity and fresh. 

I’m not sure how the 1435 vintage turned out

but 2017 in Washington is proving to be a good year

for Poet’s Leap Riesling. 

We found Poet’s Leap at Market of Choice for $18.99,
