12 Jun It’s Wine Thursday! and The Old Farmer’s Almanac says it might be time for Lange 2018 Classique Pinot Gris
For Wine Thursday!,
our weekly good-wine-at-a-good-price review
just in time for your weekend,
we’re recommending a wine you can chill
’cause it looks like we’re gonna need it!
According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac,
we’re in for a sizzling summer.
Just look at all of that red west of the Mississippi.
Granted, The Farmer’s Almanac isn’t the most reliable
long-range forecast resource.
It’s only right 52% of the time.
But even if The Almanac is wrong,
today’s recommended wine will do just fine…hot or not.
Located in Dundee,
right in the heart of Oregon wine country,
Lange has been in the Pinot Gris game
a long, long time.
The Langes say only three other wineries in North America
have been making Pinot Gris longer.
Thus, they know the drill.
Their Classique is textbook Pinot Gris,
showing a pleasant degree of minerality and a nice tart, green apple edge.
It’s also a textbook Pat The Wine Guy recommendation,
i.e., priced right and easy to find.
As usual, Costco has the best price around, $11.99.
At Bale’s Thriftway it goes for $14.99
Safeway has it for $15.39, Fred Meyer sells it for $15.79,
QFC charges $15.99 and Whole Foods’ price is $16.99.
Enjoy! And keep cool.
Cheers!
