A fun fact about Oregon wine…

The most popular wine in the state, Pinot Noir

and the 2nd most popular wine in the state, Pinot Gris,

share the same lineage. 

Pinot Gris is a mutation of the Pinot Noir grape. 

The grapes might share the same pedigree. 

But the respective wines exist on opposite sides

of the color, texture and taste spectrums.

Where it’s from  

Four years ago, one of Oregon’s largest wineries,

King Estate, sold its sub-brand, Acrobat,

to a fast-growing California wine conglomerate,

Foley Family Wines.   

Despite the change of hands, the wine consumer

probably didn’t notice any difference at all. 

Acrobat continues to produce

good-value entry-level Oregon wine.

What it is

This is a no-fuss easy-to-like white wine.   

It’s an appealing combination of fruit flavors

(such as apple and pear) medium-to-tart acidity

and just a touch of spice. 

While there’s a taste of honey, this wine is semi-dry. 

It would pair well with salmon or grilled chicken.

Professional reviewers have regularly included Acrobat Pinot Gris

on their annual top-value lists.  The 2021 version is yet another

great buy from this producer.
