20 May Classic Oregon Pinot – 2018 Ponzi Tavola Pinot Noir
Oregon Pinot Noir has been on
a sustained roll for years.
And the hits just keep on comin’.
“There are relatively few places scattered
around the world where Pinot Noir not only succeeds,
but makes wines that rival the quality
of those from Burgundy. Oregon is one of them,”
says Paul Gregutt, contributing editor/wine reviewer
for Wine Enthusiast.
It’s Wine Thursday!, our weekly
good-wine-at-a-good-price-that-
you-can-find recommendation,
just in time for the weekend.
As we continue to celebrate
Oregon Wine Month, we are featuring
a classic Oregon Pinot Noir from
an iconic Oregon winery.
Italy Magazine
When Italians refer to a table
that’s set for a meal,
they use the word “tavola”.
And when Italians sit down for a meal,
there’s usually wine involved.
Some 20 years ago,
Ponzi debuted their Tavola Pinot.
It’s always been an unpretentious
but satisfying Pinot,
an ideal accompaniment to a
weeknight dinner.
The 2018 version of Tavola follows
in its predecessor’s legacy.
It combines fruit flavors…sour cherry, raspberry
and a touch of cranberry…with subtle spices and
earthy, mushroom tones.
Like so many other young reds,
this Pinot Noir improves as it is exposed to air.
Timing is everything.
Unscrew the cap, pour a glass then wait 30 minutes
before enjoying this wine.
Your patience will be rewarded.
