23 Dec The final entry in our 5-wine holiday countdown: Roederer Estate non-vintage Brut Sparkling Wine!

We will stop short of saying “we’ve saved the best for last”.  There will be no disparaging of the previous four in our five-wine holiday countdown as they are all darn good.

However…

Roederer Estate’s non-vintage Brut is outstanding.

It fits…perfectly…the Pat The Wine Guy buying profile:  great quality, good price and easy to find.

When all of the critics agree, it’s usually a good sign.  And the critics fall all over each other in their praise of this sparkling wine.  Wine Enthusiast – 92 points.  Wine.com-92 points.  Connoisseurs’ Guide – 90 points.  Decanter – 90 points.  Wine Spectator – 92 points.

It’s simultaneously rich/creamy but also has a nice acidic edge, ideal for multiple occasions: pre-functioning, during a meal (would pair very well with crab/seafood) and general celebrating.

The Roederer family has a long legacy of wine production in Champagne.  They apply their expertise to their California (Anderson Valley) operation where this sparkler comes from.  They are pros and it shows.

I don’t know.  Maybe we did save the best for last?  Try the Roederer, then you be the judge!
