01 May Bigger can be better – La Crema Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
You, me and most every wine drinker in the country
associates La Crema with Chardonnay and rightfully so.
La Crema is America’s best-selling California Chardonnay.
But La Crema also produces Pinot Noir and they
aren’t just dabbling in it.
According to Wine Spectator, La Crema cranked out
nearly two and half million bottles of its Sonoma Coast
Pinot Noir in 2021.
That’s a massive amount.
Speaking of association, high-volume, value-priced wine
is not typically associated with quality.
But there are exceptions to every rule.

It’s Wine Thursday!
Time to check out a good wine
that sells at a reasonable price and
is easy to find at the store and online.
La Crema’s Sonoma Coast Pinot checks all three boxes.

Wine Spectator/Jak Wonderly
Where it’s from
Located in northern California along the Pacific Coast,
the vast Sonoma Coast wine producing region is primarily
considered a “cool climate” grape growing area.
What it is
This is not the typical lush, rich, bordering-on-heavy
stereotypical California Pinot Noir.
La Crema’s Sonoma Coast Pinot is crisp and vibrant
with well-balanced acidity. No lack of fruit flavors
in this one. There’s strawberry, cherry, cranberry and more.
This is a smooth, versatile red that would pair well
with salmon, grilled chicken or pork tenderloin.
