Highly-rated Sauvignon Blanc – Joel Gott California 2021

Is Sauvignon Blanc having its moment?

No, that’s not actually the case.

Its moment is lasting a very long time.

There’s nothing fleeting about this varietal’s popularity.

It has been growing for years and continues to do so.

In the U.S., sales of Sauvignon Blanc have increased

24% over the past two years and show no signs of letting up.

It’s easy to see why.  It’s an agreeable wine…

most consumers find it to be an easy drinker…

and it’s easy on the budget.

Sauvignon Blanc is typically

one of the better buys on the grocery shelf.

It’s Wine Thursday!, our weekly look

at a good wine that sells at a reasonable price

and is easy to find at the store and online.

There is not a box that this week’s featured wine

leaves unchecked.  It’s well made, is widely available

and was recently named one of the best values of 2023.

Where it’s from

Once a Mom-and-Pop winery based in Napa, Joel Gott now has a footprint

that covers the entire West Coast.  Gott produces wine in Washington and Oregon

as well as California.   Gott’s 2021 Sauvignon Blanc

is designated just that…”California”…

as grapes for this vintage were sourced from vineyards

located throughout the state

including Napa, Sonoma, and Monterey.

What it is

Joel Gott has built a well-deserved reputation

for producing solid wines that sell at a fair price.

The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc keeps the streak going.

Wine Spectator recently released their list

of the top ten values of 2022.

Gott’s 2021 Sauvignon Blanc came in at #5.

It’s a refreshing, light-on-its-feet white,

vibrant and aromatic.  Fruit-forward with

pineapple and citrus notes, it has strong acidity

that resolves in a long, tangy finish.

Try it with seafood or grilled chicken.
