Snoop Dogg’s, yes, Snoop Dogg’s red blend – 19 Crimes Cali Red

Beyond his legendary career as a rapper, the man has become

a crazy-successful entrepreneur, expanding his Dogg brand

through multiple, diverse platforms…apps, websites, Esports, cannabis (of course)…

even a TV cooking show with Martha Stewart.

What’s up now for The Doggfather?

Red wine.

It’s Wine Thursday!, our weekly good-wine-at-a-good-price-that-you-can-find

recommendation,  just in time for your weekend.

We’re checking out a red that,  according to the man whose face is on the label,

is “strong, bold and incredible – just like the D-O-double G.”

To produce Cali Red, Snoop Dogg has partnered with 19 Crimes,

the Australian wine giant that is perhaps better known

for their work outside rather than inside the bottle.

19 Crimes’  interactive augmented-reality labels are quite clever.

Snoop and 19 Crimes is a match made in marketing heaven.

Yes, the label on Cali Red is also interactive.

Download the app and watch as Snoop makes a toast,

“to success and nothin’ less.”

But let’s get to the wine.

Cali Red is a blend of petite sirah, zinfandel and merlot…big, dark, dense

…and sweet.

If you don’t like reds on the sweet side, you’ll drop it like it’s hot.  (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

But if you’re OK with a candied fruit finish, Cali Red is fine.

One added bonus:  if your mind’s on your money and your money’s on your mind,

Cali Red is not expensive.

Depending on the retailer, it will run in the $12-$16 range.

Who has it?  Who doesn’t have it?

You’ll find Cali Red at Safeway,  QFC,  Winco,  Fred Meyer, Whole Foods,

7-11,  BevMo,  Total Wine, Albertson’s…

even selected Arco and Chevron convenience stores.

On line, you can grab it at Wine.com and Buywinesonline.com
